Essential oils such as peppermint oil have natural cooling properties, which are ideal for making your body feel cooler, and the key to this is an organic compound called menthol

Menthol can be found in most mint related products and cools you down by tricking your brain into making you feel cool. How does that work? We have a whole set of nerves which run from our skin to our brain to sense changes in temperature.  The receptor protein that senses the changes in temperature is called TRPM8 and it is found in the cold-sensing nerve cells. Menthol cools you down by triggering the TRPM8 ion, causing your skin's cold receptor to become sensitive. NATURAL SUN SKIN PROTECTION

 

Shea butter: has a natural SPF of about 6-10, so combined with other oils containing natural sun protection will help protect your skin from uv rays. Kay Pedals organic body lotion made with organic unrefined Shea butter  organic avocado and sweet almond oil will help maximize skin protection against the sun’s uv rays.  

If the sun sucks all the moisture out of your skin, you need to replenish what has been lost. Shea butter contains two fatty acids called oleic acid and stearic acid, which makes it similar to the oils that naturally occur in our skin. This makes shea butter easy to absorb into the skin, without feeling greasy. If you’ve been out in the sun or in the pool, and your skin is feeling dry and dehydrated, you can apply shea butter on its own, or you can make your own whipped body butter or lotion.
